Milan, a place to read
Milan, a place to read is the title of the touring exhibition that premiered in Brussels on October 20, 2014, the first day of the 2014 Italian Language Week, and will end in Milan in September 2015 in an expanded format, as one of the appointments in the Milan, city of books program.
Made in collaboration with Italian Culture Institutes, Embassies and Consulates around the world, it is one of the lines of the Copy in Milan project to make Milan become the gateway to the rest of the world for Italian publishers, also in connection with Milan Expo 2015. This project is coordinated by the Arnoldo e Alberto Mondadori Foundation in partnership with the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Italian Ministry for Heritage Conservation, Culture and Tourism, Centro per il libro e la lettura, the Lombardy Regional Administration, Milan Municipal Administration, the Association of Italian Publishing Houses, under the auspices of Milan Expo 2015, and supported by Fondazione Cariplo.
With captions in Italian and English, the exhibition unveils the wonders of Milan as the capital of Italian publishing, a city of authors, publishers and especially readers, as no one would have guessed. A city to read and a city for readers. This is how the exhibition presents the city to future visitors to Milan Expo 2015 around the world.
Milan, a place to read has already been on show in Haifa (Israel), Algiers (Algeria), Hanoi (Vietnam), Brussels (Belgium), Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Beijing and Guangzhou (China). Other venues in another 24 cities around the world – from Canada to Latin America and Eastern Europe - are getting ready to host it, preparing new translations to ensure utmost enjoyment.
