Major Landmark Grants to projects in Brescia and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, €7 Million

Each year the Foundation allocates €7,000,000 to support major projects in each of two different provinces within its constituency, in accordance with a specific schedule. This year, the provinces selected for submission of landmark project proposals are Brescia and Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. Major landmark grants are for projects featuring a high degree of financial, structural, organizational complexity addressing specific issues at the local level, testing innovative policies in the social, cultural or economic spheres, aimed at improving people’s lives, designed and executed jointly with other public or private sector players. Major landmark projects are exemplary initiatives taken under a subsidiarity approach.

The call for proposals for a major landmark grant is now open. The text of the call and instructions on how to apply can be found on the Foundation’s website at www.fondazionecariplo.it The deadline for the submission of proposals (projects) is July 25, 2014. Non-profit organizations having a project that meets the requirements set out in the  call can apply. Applicants shall submit their application specifying goals, strategy, deliverables, time-schedule, project plan, co-financing and other required details of their project for full assessment thereof by the Foundation.

Without prejudice to the project review process, here are some of the criteria that will be used to assess the merits and select projects for a Foundation’s major landmark grant: the Foundation will select no more than five projects for funding; the Foundation’s grant will be no lower than €1,000,000; only projects that can be immediately executed, for which all required authorizations have already been received and with at least 20% of project costs co-funded by other sources are eligible for a Foundation’s major landmark grant; public sector and nonprofit players operating at the local level are to be involved in the execution of the project; the financial self-sufficiency of the initiatives after project completion is to be documented.

This is a great opportunity for local communities that can rely on substantial financial support from Fondazione Cariplo for projects generating major social and cultural impacts.
