Over the years our Foundation has become aware that for its endeavors in strategic areas to endure, it needs to rely on a network of organizations which operate as separate entities and yet work in tandem with us. This led us to build Mondo Cariplo (Cariplo’s universe), a network of entities carrying on and expanding our chief projects.
This foundation promotes innovative social entrepreneurial ventures in Italy and contributes to the Cariplo Social Innovation initiative by supporting, with direct and indirect investments, players pursuing environmental and social impact. It also provides advisory services such as assistance in the preparation of financial plans and the definition of funding strategies, capacity building, support to growth of innovative social enterprises and impact investing.
Created to explore solutions and provide tangible responses to social housing needs, today Fondazione Housing Sociale is a national champion in private social housing. It provides advisory services on technical and social matters both to project developers and funds that invest or are willing to invest in social housing. Fondazione Housing Sociale also created a firm named In-Domus s.r.l., which manages accredited student housing complexes including not just accommodations but also sports and recreational facilities as well as study spaces.
It is a Fondazione Cariplo benefit company whose purpose is helping young people find their place in the world of work by enhancing their employability and facilitating the formation of new businesses by youngsters. Through its own support and assistance as well as projects in partnership with institutions, Cariplo Factory also stimulates innovation processes, creating a breeding ground for a modern and dynamic ecosystem of large and small-sized players.
Formerly known as Fondazione Cariplo Iniziative Patrimoniali S.p.A., it was renamed following its transformation into a benefit company of Fondazione Cariplo. The transformation started in 2020 and the new entity became effective from January 4, 2021. Cariplo Iniziative S.r.l. operates in the areas of focus of Fondazione Cariplo, especially, but not exclusively, in the field of arts and culture, and is the owner of Fondazione Cariplo conference center and also of most of our art and historic treasures which it manages and promotes.
In 1998 Fondazione Cariplo began promoting within its constituency the formation of Community Foundations as separate, independent philanthropic entities seeking to attract and bring together players and resources to carry out public benefit initiatives in arts and culture as well as the environmental and social spheres in the provinces they serve. To satisfy the needs of the local communities, these foundations foster a culture of giving and encourage participation by the population, nonprofit organizations, public-sector and private entities through calls for proposals, other forms of funding and participatory projects. Fondazione Cariplo provided some 10.5 billion euros as endowment for each Community Foundations and supports them with dedicated annual resources and its Community Foundations project.
To-date there are 16 Community Foundations backed by Fondazione Cariplo.
