Account for funds employed

Generation and systematization of qualitative and quantitative information on how funds were spent (input) and what was accomplished (output) through the Foundation’s action. This exercise goes beyond mere project assessment, as it allows to present in a transparent manner how the Foundation’s funds were used.

Ren.de.re. Project

Ren.de.re. - Accounting for project execution - is a project designed to provide detailed information on what was accomplished with the funds given by the Foundation. This information complements financial information about projects. Although Ren.de.re. does not directly pursue evaluation goals, the intelligence gathered through it can provide useful input for ex-post assessment.

In 2007, the Ren.de.re project was experimentally applied to four calls for proposals, one for each of the program areas covered by the Foundation. The projects selected under these calls for proposals were carried out between 2000 and 2005. The calls for proposals were selected applying a dual, time-related criterion: i.e. the Foundation picked calls for proposals with a rather long track record (in terms of number of projects already completed) and with good prospects of being continued in the future. A brief overview of results is given in the 2008 Mission-based Report. A brief excerpt is available for download.

In 2008, Ren.de.re began to be extended to projects managed directly by the Foundation. Regular collection of information about these projects and their achievements was thus started. Specifically information was collected in relation to the progress and achievements of certain projects that are still underway. A brief outline is given in the 2009 Mission-based Report (excerpt).
